LINK Price Action (1D): Ready to Break Key Resistance at $9.38?

The Chainlink daily chart reveals a millimeter-precise tactical battle between institutional absorption and the primary downtrend. Here is what the candles say.

Chainlink’s native token (LINK) on its 1-day (1D) timeframe moves through a decisive technical inflection point in August 2026. After completing an ascending wedge and a barbed-wire lateral accumulation pattern, the price pushes decisively through the local resistance of $8.60, driven by institutional volume. We analyze price action bar by bar to decipher whether the bulls will manage to break the structural barrier of $9.38 and challenge the macro downtrend.

From the Ascending Wedge to Bearish Exhaustion

LINK‘s recent movement clearly exposes collective market psychology. During the initial development, bar 20 attempted to break the $8.60 resistance, but exposed a fragile small-range breakout accompanied by an upper wick that betrayed profit-taking. This movement completed a three-push bull pattern (with milestones at bars 3, 14, and 20), forming an exhausted ascending wedge.

The bearish response arrived quickly: bar 23 broke the 23-bar counter-trend bull line. However, it lacked genuine conviction, a symptom of selling weakness sealed in bar 24 (a doji that halted the drop) and bar 25, where buyers counterattacked with a high-conviction bar lacking a lower wick. Although bar 26 attempted to invalidate this bullish effort via an outside bear pattern that trapped late buyers, bar 27 responded with a marked defensive hammer over a previous congestion zone, turning the support into a solid trading floor.

Technical Analysis: The Institutional Jump and the New 44-Bar Structure

Following a period of congestion or “barbed wire”—characterized by narrow bodies and multiple tails acting as accumulation between bars 33 and 40—the dynamics shifted radically in bar 41.

The Bar 41 Breakout: Smart money entered the market forcefully with a wide-range, high-conviction bullish bar, accompanied by outstanding trading volume that crushed the previous micro-range and exceeded the high of bar 30.

The Role of Bar 31 and the New Dynamic Support: The low of bar 31 (which slightly pierced the congestion without violating it and left a strong absorption tail) now serves as a mathematical anchor to draw an adjusted 44-bar bull trendline. Likewise, this level aligns with the fixed support located at $7.795 (bar 3 low).

Current Situation (Bar 43): Following the brief small-range pullback in bar 42, bar 43 (developing) attempts a failure of that pullback. Although it shows slight deceleration by provisionally closing below the low of bar 42, the overall context shows that pullbacks lack real bearish volume.

Key Levels and Structural Challenges

Bulls hold the inescapable mission of overcoming the local resistance of $9.38. Surpassing this hurdle opens the path toward the major structural resistance located at $10.87, a level that could formally compromise the 357-bar macro downtrend.

On the defensive flank, if buyers lose traction and suffer rejection in the current zone, prices must rely on the dynamic support of the 44-bar trendline (located at $8.22), the congestion at $8.306, or the critical floor at $7.795. The recurring presence of high institutional accumulation bars (such as 1, 13, 25, and 41) confirms that large capitals continue defending the asset’s base.

Chainlink’s price action proves that the market rewards trading patience and strict order flow reading over lagging indicators. With a consolidated accumulation structure and institutional volume backing, LINK’s capacity to hold above $8.60 sets the tone for the sustainability of this second medium-term bull leg.
